Introduction

At C J Net Limited (the “Company”), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy describes our privacy practices and policy regarding the collection and use of information (including personally identifiable information) made available to us through the citizenJ.net website (“CitizenJ”). Notice of all changes that materially affect ways in which your personally identifiable data may be used or shared will be posted in updates to this Privacy Policy.

All members’ personally identifiable information will be held and used by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy and UK data protection legislation. By using CitizenJ, you confirm your agreement to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not register as a CitizenJ member or use CitizenJ or the services provided over it. Subject to the provisions above regarding material changes to this Privacy Policy, CitizenJ may change this Privacy Policy from time to time without notice (including, without limitation, on the introduction of new services to our users which affect our privacy practices). Any such change will take effect once the revised privacy policy is available on the CitizenJ home page. You will be bound by any such changes to the Privacy Policy. Therefore, CitizenJ ask that you bookmark and periodically review this page to ensure your continuing familiarity with the most current version of our Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the CitizenJ Site following such changes to this Privacy Policy means you accept those changes.

Your privacy is a key concern for the Company. We work hard to earn and keep your trust, so we adhere to the following principles to protect your privacy:

1. We will not rent or sell your personally identifiable information to third parties for marketing purposes; and

2. We let you decide which information you wish to share with CitizenJ members.

General

Registration

To use CitizenJ, you must be invited by an existing CitizenJ member and register as a member yourself. All we require for registration purposes is your name and email address (your “Registration Information”). Once you have registered, you are not required to provide us or other CitizenJ members with any other information, although you may choose to do so. For example, many of our members complete a personal profile, participate in our discussion forums and use our CitizenJ messaging [Email] service.

Opt In

When you register as a member of CitizenJ you will be asked to ‘opt in’ to our Privacy Policy to confirm that you agree to our use of any personally identifiable information that we may collect from you or be provided with by you in connection with your use of CitizenJ and the services provided over it. By ‘opting-in’ you agree to our use of your information in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not provide your consent, you will not be able to become a member of CitizenJ or use the services. If you wish to withdraw your consent to our use of your Registration Information you may do so at any time by unsubscribing from CitizenJ. You can correct or delete any other information in your personal profile at any time. For more information on unsubscribing, or correcting or deleting personal data on CitizenJ, please see the paragraph below concerning [‘Unsubscribing, Correction and Deletion of Personally Identifiable Information’].

Categories of Personal Data Processed through CitizenJ

The information that you and our other members provide to us or make available on CitizenJ may generally be categorized as either anonymous or personally identifiable. Anonymous information is information that cannot be traced back to a specific individual. Personally identifiable information is information from which you or another individual may be identified. This information may include your name, email address, occupation, place of residence, and so on.

Profile and Other Information Provided by you

As noted above, the only information that we require a member to provide is his / her Registration Information. However, all members have the opportunity to complete and maintain a personal profile, if they wish. Providing this additional information is entirely optional, but enables you to better identify yourself and your interests to other members and network more effectively. You can use your personal profile to describe yourself, your skills, interests, professional experience, networking objectives and other information that you think is important about you. The information in your profile will be accessible to all members, so you should regularly check it and ensure it is correct and up to date.

As well as maintaining a personal profile, you may also choose to provide personal information about yourself on CitizenJ discussion forums, over the CitizenJ messaging [Email] service, and over other services that we may provide from time to time.

Please note that your personal profile, the CitizenJ messaging [Email] service, and all CitizenJ discussion forums, bulletin boards, chat rooms and other public forums are open to all CitizenJ members. You should not submit or include any information in them that you would not want shared with other people. If you choose to disclose personally identifiable information in these areas you are consenting to its unrestricted distribution to and by other CitizenJ members. CitizenJ therefore cannot be responsible for the protection or security of such information, regardless of its sensitivity. Members disclose all such information entirely at their own risk.

Collection of Personally Identifiable Information

We collect the details provided by you when you register as a member of CitizenJ together with any personally identifiable information we learn about you through your use of CitizenJ and the services provided over it. For example, we may collect additional personally identifiable information through your participation in any promotions and competitions offered by us.

Use of Personally Identifiable Information

We use the personally identifiable information that we collect to operate CitizenJ and offer the services that we provide over it from time to time and to communicate with you. By registering as a member, you agree that we may contact you through the CitizenJ messaging [Email] service or by email to the address most recently notified by you to us. In addition, unless you have asked us not to, we may contact you by post, SMS, MMS or telephone.

Disclosure of your Personally Identifiable Information

The provisions above set out the main circumstances in which we may disclose your personally identifiable information to third parties. We may also disclose your personally identifiable information without further notice to you in the following instances: (i) if we are required to do so by applicable law or pursuant to a court or similar order; (ii) as deemed necessary, in our discretion, to protect the legal rights or the property of the Company, a member or third party, or to prevent personal injury; and/or (iii) in connection with a sale, merger, assignment, joint venture or other transfer or disposition of a portion or all of the business, assets or shares in the Company or its affiliated entities (including, without limitation, in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).

In addition, we reserve the right to allow access to our systems to third parties providing technical services to us when such access is required in order to provide those services and to provide your personally identifiable information to third parties who provide services on our behalf, provided in each case that such third parties are bound by obligations to maintain the security of your personally identifiable information and use it only on our behalf in connection with the provision of such services.

We may also provide anonymous information and aggregated data about the usage of our services to third-parties for such purposes as we deem, in our sole discretion, to be appropriate. If you have any concerns about the anonymous and aggregated information and data that we disclose, please email support@citizenj.net for more information.

Security

The security of your personally identifiable information is a priority to the Company. Please help us to keep your information secure by keeping your password and other account details confidential.

However, despite your and our efforts, unfortunately, no security system, or system of transmitting data over the internet, can be guaranteed to be 100 per cent secure. As a result, while we strive to protect members’ personally identifiable information, we cannot guarantee the security of our servers, the means by which information is transmitted between your computer and our servers, or any information provided to us or to any third party over CitizenJ. You provide all such information at your own risk.

Communications from us

We may communicate with you through the CitizenJ messaging [Email] service, email to the personal email address notified to us by you, and / or notices posted on CitizenJ. These may include emails which help inform users about various features of the service or relate to the proper functioning of your account. You are responsible for ensuring that you read them and respond promptly if requested to do so.

Information about your Contacts

In order to invite others to connect with you directly on CitizenJ, you can enter their names and email addresses in the identifiable invitation section on CitizenJ. This information will be used by CitizenJ to send your invitations. The names and email addresses of people that you invite will be used only to send your three invitations. Please do not enter contact details for any invitees on CitizenJ unless you have their consent to do so.

All information that you enter or upload about your contacts will be covered by the same terms of this privacy policy as cover your own personally identifiable information.

Other Websites

Where we provide links to third party websites (whether or not they are affiliated with us and even if CitizenJ branding appears on these sites), such sites are not controlled by us and are not covered by this Privacy Policy. These links are provided for your convenience only. If you access these sites by using the links provided, the operators of these sites may collect information from you which will be used by them in accordance with their privacy policy. We cannot guarantee how they will use your information or that they will use it in compliance with applicable data protection law and you are advised to check the privacy policies of such third parties before providing information to them.

Children

Children are not eligible to use our service. Minors (under the age of 18) must not submit any personal information to CitizenJ nor use the services provided over it.

Cookies

Use of Cookies on our Site

A cookie is a text-only string of information that a website transfers to the cookie file of the browser on your computer's hard disk so that the website can recognise who you are.

A cookie will typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the 'lifetime' of the cookie, and a value, usually a randomly generated unique number.

Two types of cookies are used on this website: • session cookies - temporary cookies that remain in the cookie file of your browser until you leave the site;

• persistent cookies - these remain in the cookie file of your browser for much longer (though how long will depend on the lifetime of the specific cookie).

Cookies help a website to arrange content to match your preferred interests more quickly. Most major websites use cookies.

How we Use Cookies

We use session cookies:

• to allow you to carry information across pages of our site and avoid having to log-in many times;

• as part of the registration process to allow access of stored information.

We use persistent cookies:

• to help us recognise you when you return to our website and to allow us to tailor content or advertisements to match your preferred interests or to avoid showing you the same adverts repeatedly;

• to compile anonymous, aggregated statistics that allow us to understand how users use our site and to help us improve the structure of our website;

• within research surveys to ensure you are not invited to complete a questionnaire too often or after you have already done so;

• to store registration information so that if you are a member you only have to re-enter your password (instead of all your registration information) each time you visit the site, and so that the site can recognise you as a member.

We do not pass any personally identifiable information obtained by cookie use to third party advertising companies.

Third party cookies:

Third parties serve cookies via this site. These are used for the following purposes:

• to serve advertisements on our site and track whether these advertisements are clicked on by users.

• to control how often you are shown a particular advertisement.

• to tailor content to your preferences.

• to count the number of anonymous users of our site.

• to aggregate anonymised information for marketing purposes.

Use of Web Beacons

Some of our web pages may contain electronic images known as web beacons (sometimes known as clear gifs) that allow us to count users who have visited these pages. Web beacons collect only limited information including a cookie number, time and date of a page view, and a description of the page on which the web beacon resides. We may also carry web beacons placed by third-party advertisers. These beacons do not carry any personally identifiable information and are only used to track the effectiveness of a particular campaign.

Disabling or Enabling Cookies

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying the settings in your browser. However, you may not be able to use all the interactive features of our site if cookies are disabled.

Managing Cookies

There are a number of ways you can manage cookies stored on your computer. If you use different computers in different locations you will need to ensure that each browser is adjusted to suit your cookie preferences.

You can easily find any cookies that have been installed in the cookie folder of your browser. For example, if you are using Microsoft Windows Explorer, you can do this by opening Windows Explorer, and searching for cookie files.

If you are not using Microsoft Windows Explorer, then you should select 'cookies' in the 'Help' function for information on where to find your cookie folder.

Before you delete any cookies on your computer, you should be aware that some cookies are used to store your privacy preferences and enable website operators to comply with them. For example, if you have told a particular website operator that you do not wish them to provide you with targeted advertising, they may have stored a cookie on your computer so that whenever you visit their website, they know not to do this. If you delete that cookie, they will no longer have a record of your request or the means to ensure that they comply with it.

Third Party Personally Identifiable Information

You must not disclose personally identifiable information relating to any third party on your personal profile, the CitizenJ messaging [Email] service, and / or any CitizenJ discussion forums, bulletin boards, chat rooms or other public forums or in conjunction with any service provided or made available by us unless you have their express consent to do so.

Your Rights to Know about the Personally Identifiable Information that we Hold

Under UK data protection law, you have a right to request confirmation of the personally identifiable information that we hold on you. Since much of this information will typically have been provided by you (for example, on your personal profile, or in discussion forums in which you participate) you will generally already have this information. However, if you would like to know more about the information that we hold on you, please contact us at support@citizenj.net. Please note that we are entitled to make provision of such information subject to satisfactory proof of your identity and certain statutory conditions, including payment of a £10 fee (payable to C J Net Limited, 26 York Street, London W1U 6PZ).

Unsubscribing, Correction and Deletion of Personally Identifiable Information

You may review the personal information you have provided to us and make any desired changes to the information, or to the settings of your CitizenJ account, at any time by logging on to CitizenJ and editing the information on your account settings and / or personal profile page.

To unsubscribe altogether from the CitizenJ service, please contact support@citizenj.net. If you unsubscribe from the CitizenJ service, you will cease to be a member of CitizenJ and may no longer use CitizenJ or the services provided over it. In addition, we will remove your name and your personal profile from our publicly viewable data. However, in most circumstances, and unless we otherwise specifically agree, it may not be possible or commercially practicable for us to remove or delete other information that you have provided on CitizenJ or the services provided over it (for example, on our discussion forums). Removal or deletion of such information will be entirely at our discretion. You should consider this fact before submitting or providing any such information to CitizenJ or the services provided over it. In particular, you should note that we may require (or be required) to retain certain data contributed by you if it may be necessary to prevent fraud or future abuse, or for legitimate business purposes, such as analysis of aggregated, non-personally-identifiable data, account recovery, or if required by law. All retained data will continue to be subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy that you have previously agreed to.

When requesting that personally identifiable information be amended or deleted, please keep in mind that there will be residual information that will remain within our databases, access logs and other records, which may or may not contain such personally identifiable information. The residual information will not be used for commercial purposes. However, we may use that information, from time to time, to recontact former members or visitors to the CitizenJ Site in certain limited circumstances - for instance, if required to do so by law.
